Week after week, this channel gives you ant lovers a taste of how amazing the world of ants is, but this week, I wanted to try something we’ve never tried before!

Today, we are going to show you what it is like to be an ant, and live a day in their claws, in this multi-video, choose-your-own-adventure-style ant story—or should we say, Choose Your Own Ant-Venture!

We love interactivity on this channel, as you may know, so this video will be an interesting one as you wander freely around the Hacienda Del Dorado as a yellow crazy ant and learn a thing or two about ant life along the way.

There are a few interesting events ahead, so make sure you wander to as many areas as possible!

Alright, AC Family, so here’s how we’re going to do this.

The sun rises on the Hacienda Del Dorado.

You are this ant—a yellow crazy ant worker, scientific name Anoplolepis gracilipes, and because you’re a worker, it means you are a barren female.

You’ve just emerged from one of your many nest exits, which is home to hundreds of thousands of ants, including the 8 queens you serve.

You see, your species is polygynous, meaning you guys tolerate multiple queens in your colony.

In fact, this polygyny is one reason why your species has done so well. Colonies can merge and create supercolonies, much like your colony, which was a result of 3 colonies fused together.

Emerging from the nest, you pick up several pheromone signals in the area.

As an ant, you do not communicate through audible sounds, but rather through pheromones—biochemicals laid on the ground.

One pheromone signal indicates there is some delicious food nearby.

Another pheromone signal indicates that help is needed with constructing something pretty major.

Another pheromone signal indicates that there is something sweet not too far away!

Or you can choose to ignore these signals and simply explore on your own.

So, what will it be, ant? Delicious food? Helping with construction? Want to check out the sweets? Or explore on your own?

You decide what path to take as the sun rises higher in the sky, casting warm light over the Hacienda Del Dorado. The scent of pheromones fills the air, leading you and your fellow ants in various directions.

If you choose to follow the delicious food pheromone, you’ll find yourself on a journey to locate and retrieve a delectable prize for the colony—a mission of teamwork and strength as ants gather to bring the meal home.

If you choose to help with construction, you’ll join a dedicated crew working to expand the nest, moving particles of dirt and creating tunnels in a coordinated effort to make your home even more robust.

If you choose to seek out the sweets, you’ll be led to a source of sugary sustenance—a favorite treat among ants and a valuable source of energy for the colony. You’ll witness firsthand the excitement of discovering sweet food and feeding it to others.

Or, if you decide to simply explore on your own, you may encounter a surprising array of ant adventures, navigating the vibrant landscape of the Hacienda Del Dorado, meeting other species, and perhaps facing some unexpected challenges!

Whichever path you choose, remember to stay alert, as the world of an ant is full of both opportunities and dangers.
